Last Saturday (24th Feb), saw the final round of fixtures for this seasons National Junior League.
Division 1 was won by Rugby, who were led by the divisions only undefeated player, Sam Cafearo. They won nine of their 10 matches and only dropped 13 games in total. Lillington A were runners-up, and at the start of the day might have had title ambitions themselves, but a 3-3 draw with their ‘B’ team in the first round practically ended their hopes.
Division 2 was a very close affair, with the top three teams only separated by two points. Bedford Modern A had started the day in pole position, but a 4-2 defeat in their penultimate game against WDHA meant the best they could do was runners-up spot. A 4-2 win in their final match against St Neots A, wasn’t quite enough as the fast finishing Knighton Park (two 6-0 wins in their final two matches) pipped them by one point. WDHA had started the day in fourth position (albeit only three points behind top spot!). Virat Patel replaced Manav Pandya and his seven wins from nine games proved decisive in winning the title.
In Division 3, Lillington C were the runaway winners, only dropping 4 games from their nine matches. Milly Green led the way with a 100% record, the only one in the division. She was closely followed by team mates Tom Fletcher and Ben Hall. Bedford Modern B filled the runners-up spot, sixteen points behind Lillington but ten points in from of third placed Cliffedale Chandlers C.
Thanks again go to Mike Wildman for his excellent organisational skills, and to Lisa & Mark Holly for keeping us all refreshed. A special mention also goes to Brandon Holly, who was always willing to help clear away at the end of a long day.
